And I mean this both artistically and technologically. Now when I say FFXIII has the best battle system most people tend to not understand just how much better it is. There is so much stuff going on at the same time. All of my characters have maxed out the Crystarium and have the best armor and accessories. Each has their use in a battle. However, I can still get destroyed if I don't approach a fight properly. With old JRPG's, you could reach this level of untouchableness. With FFXIII, the battles never get boring and you're constantly coming up with new ways of doing things. Also, the fact that FFXIII has passed FFXII in sales also serves as a slap in the face of those who have constantly been nagging about the 360 version. People put their fanboy biases in the way when they play video games. They tried to say that the 360 vesion of FFXIII would cause the game to be dumbed down and wouldn't even sell well. Guess what? The game ended up being one of the best in the series and became the best selling JRPG ever on the 360. Case closed. FFXIII FTW. |
I agree on the all-round awesomeness that was FFXIII!!! Although I haven't played XII.
But whilst acknowledging these things are largely subjective, but Mass Effect 2 annihilates FFXIII!!!! I also think Valkyria Chronicles was a much better JRPG.
