I honestly think the issue (at least for me), for not wanting to deal with many games of today is all the constant cutscenes, tutorials, scrolling text, complex controls to learn, etc that slow down the game and require far more patience to get into. I dunno, maybe it's because I am 24 now and getting less patience because I am beginning to realize I'm not going to have an infinite time to spend on video games, but I find I am rushing through many games and skipping through things like cutscenes far more than I use to.

Though I do still frequently play online multiplayer like Gears 2 and MW2, SSBB, small Iphone games, old school retro games, and the occassional Star Craft or Diablo 2. These are types of games I can pick up and play at almost any time and play for several hours without getting bored. I think this is because these games share a common quality of instant action, pure gameplay, easy to learn, tough to master, and a sense of freedom within the games, which I believe are some of the best qualities games can have. Whereas with many of these modern bigger budget single player games I find I'm pushing myself to play them just to say I beat the game and didn't waste my money, and even when I'm playing it, I'll only play for a couple hours at a time max.
