how about make that content free that is added into the game of the year editions. sounds fair to me. uncharted 2 game of the year edition is coming out on october 12th right? how about make all that extra content free for the people who already bought the game

You go into a restaurant.  You get a hamburger for $3.00.  It's a good and tasty hamburger.  A year later, the restaurant comes out with a hamburger and fries combo for $3.00.  Do you go into the restaurant with your year-old receipt demanding free fries?

It makes no sense to do that, but that's exactly what gamers do with games and additional content.  This sense of entitlement is almost unheard of in any other market, but it's so common in gaming and makes no sense when put into perspective.

It gets worse when you realize that game content doesn't just magically appear.  It has to be created and the people that create it have to be paid to do so.  Despite these costs, gamers will continually turn around only to say "give it to me for free."  You can say "sounds fair to me" but how is that in any way fair to the developer?  The answer is that it's not.

Well the analogy with the restaurant is not a very good one. The hamburger you paid $3.00 for is in your stomach. It's gone unless you consider it a hamburger when you crap it out. The point is 1 year later when i go into the restaurant i would have already eaten the hamburger and there is nothing we can do about it. However for video games if i buy a game right now im sure that i will have it one year later. Oh and when you say it is not fair for the developor how is it fair for someone to pay full price day one only to find out a couple of months later an even better version comes out for a cheaper price and more content?I guess its not fair for the people who supported the dev in the 1st place right?
