Go to that and read about taxes. The richest 1% of the population in the USA (salaries of over $1.25 million) pays 31.1% of their salary in taxes which amounts to $387,000 per year in tax on average. The middle class which is about $56,000 per year only pays 13.9% which is  $7,700 per year. And the lowest 1/5 of the population which makes $15,400 per year pays 4.5% taxes which is a measly $700.

So the average guy in the top 1% of salaries pays 50x more tax then a middle class guy and 552x more than the lowest 1/5 of the population. Wow! Maybe next time you're enjoying driving on newly paved roads, having police protect you, firemen put out the fire in your kitchen or you're applying for workers comp because you got injured at work you could take a moment to thank the top 1% of the population who more than likely paid for all this.

How much more money do the top 1% have over the lowest 1/5?  If it is like 500 times more, then of course the taxes will be higher.
