DS sales are driven by parents picking up something for kids to waste time with during boring tasks for kids.  I have 3 kids and they get to play DS when they are on long car rides or waiting like at a Dr. office sort of things.  No way I would pickup 3 of those until they are closer to $100.

How many DS/DSi/DSiLL do your kids have?

3 kids 3 DS.  Does that seem extreme to you? I dont know any parents that have the kids share DS's.

DS is not that close to $100 and you already got 3 which just proves that you would buy them at a higher price. Maybe not $250 but probably would start buying one at sub $200. :)

I bought all 3 of them a couple of years back when ShopNBC.COM had a special deal on the DS. Believe I got them for $99.99.

That's one hell of a deal and doesn't happen that often though. I bought a DSL a couple years back for $100 and I already thought it's a deal. Even in Canada, I don't think it's regularly on sale for CAD $99 or even $109 and that's for DSL. We are not even talking about DSi or DSi LL.

I do agree that it wouldn't be too practical for parents to buy 3DS for several kids at launch price (even at $249). At the same time, DS is gonna last for q while so there is really no need to grab a 3DS for all your kids at launch. :)

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
