| ZenfoldorVGI said: IMO, Sword of the Stranger is vastly overrated. The story kinda sucked, the action scenes were good, but they had no resonnance or originality. I give the movie a 2/4 stars, and I think it is FAAAAR inferior to Ninja Scroll or Spirited Away. :P That is why I can't recommend any of the barely present and nameless characters in the movie(I hate it). Go watch the Samurai X OVA for the same boring ass characters and dialogue but with VASTLY better action scenes. |
The story was pretty standard fare for an action movie, but that's not a bad thing. It was told pretty well. There was a pretty good amount of characterization. Nothing mind blowing, but the story never really is the point of a movie like this. What the fudge does "an action scene having resonance" mean? That's got to be the most nonsensical thing I've ever heard. Unless it copied other action scenes, I don't understand how it couldn't be original, either. The only thing I can think of is that the fighters used established fighting styles, which I don't have an issue with. The coreography was flawless; as I said, the best animated fight scenes I've ever seen (Ehh, I dunno, some of the FMA movie fight scenes are pretty incredible as well).
