I'm talking about franchises like Street fighter, Resident Evil, Ridge Racer... you know, the ones that usually are consoles and not handheld...

There is a big difference in putting a remake on a handheld and putting the main installment on a handheld.

And you do realise all the series you mentioned have had instalments on handhelds before

instalments that are not crappy spinoffs or remakes?

(i'd agree though that snakeeater preceded the MSG on 3DS...)

except metal gear solid had on awesome spinoff on GBC too. called MGS: Ghost Babel
