I guess that's good for those who didn't get to experience them on their original console. Still, considering I own both I wouldn't repurchase any game I already own, especially considering you can make your own copies of your own PS1 games and play them on your PSP.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that only possible on hacked PSPs with Homebrew incorporated in them? Since I've already tried that on my PSP with PE2 and wasn't able to run it due to copyright issues.

You're correct, you have to have a PSP running custom firmware, or using some sort of exploit. a few games have emulation issues (PE2 is one of them) but it's not due to copyright issues, it's just a later generation PS1 game and those tend to emulate odd at times. Even with the emulation problems, there are some firmware versions that run PE2 just fine.

I know a lot of people here are out spoken about PSP hacking, but if you own the game already I see no harm in making it into a eboot you can run on your PSP, having to pay for it twice seems like corporate robbery to me.

Well, I tried putting CF on my PSP (mainly only for both PEs), but since nowadays, the only way to actually do it is through the PANDORA system, it seems to be a bit too much of a hassle and expensive (it would cost me as much as getting both games out of PSN, here in Portugal).

The one good thing that comes out of this is if someone wants to play PE2 and has a PS3 or PSP they won't have to drop $40 on ebay for it. If you own a lot of PS1 games like I do though, the idea of having to repurchase them to play them on the go far far outweighs the price of modding a PSP. It all comes down to situation.
