Gaming - Piracy - View Post

I don't pirate games. I think it's dishonest.

At the same time every study on the matter shows that piracy doesn't actually effect sales.

PSP software doesn't sell because the PSP doesn't appeal to people who don't pirate software.

If the PSP wasn't eaisly piratable people in large just wouldn't buy it. The Software sales would stay about the same but the hardware sales would drop drastically.

Piracy is what made the PSP Nintendo's best competition in the hand held market to date. It was actually a very smart strategy.

Next generation sony can make an unpiratable PSP2 that will have plenty of name brand success.

That's why Ipods are so popular. If Ipod music wasn't so easy to pirate people would just buy less ipods they wouldn't pay money for it. They've done a study on that as well. They said it was likely Ipod sales would drop by 75%.
