If you ask me (you don't), they are not core AT ALL. In fact, not by miles. Those games lost their 'core status' (lol) when Ninty started catering to casuals and their 'new' audience instead of us 'old timers'... I don't know how anyone could call Ninty games 'core' anymore. In my opinion, most have gone the way of the casual with dumbed down gameplay. They have become ruined franchises... At least that's what I think, however, millions seems to disagree with my sentiment. Maybe it's just me getting older, and getting somewhat sick of the 'more of the same' feeling I get surrounding many Ninty titles. In my opinion, Super Mario Galaxy 1, Super Paper Mario and Metroid: Prime 3 are the only three Ninty games I have enjoyed this gen. However, Galaxy is the only title I feel I must have on the Wii. The once great franchises like SSB, Mario Party, Mario Kart and Zelda have not been the same on the Wii at all. These are franchises I have played EXTENSIVELY since their birth/creation. Games me and my friends have played for years, every single day. We never touch their Wii versions... Never... Their magic is simply gone (to me (and my friends) that is)... Feel free to disagree, I feel you will.
