Part of the problem is that I have never ever seen an advert, outside in ONM, for a 'core' 3rd party Wii game. While Bayonetta got tonnes of ads on TV and on gaming sites, I didn't see a single on for Madworld anywhere. Here in the U.K, Dark Void sponsored a fairly major TV show on one of the most popular channels, while I saw no ads for Resident Evil UC, DC, Okami and only a few in ONM for Zack and Wiki. MH3 is the only Capcom game to really get ads here in the U.K for Wii and it was Nintendo that was behind that.
I could go on for much longer, but I think one gets the picture
