Do you really have to try anything to know it's bad? I mean, Do you have to try rotten fish to know it tastes bad? Hell no, your logic thinking tells you it tastes bad.
You don't have to try anything to know if you like it or not. That's the point of reviews after all. You look in game magazines or internet pages and inform yourself about videogames. If a games gets horrendous scores, you most likely won't buy it, even if you didn't try it for yourself.
