How badly will I be raped if I buy it next year ?

Nah, you won't be.  At last playing at least, it's pretty easy to level up quickly.  And you'll be put into a somewhat balanced game I think, so not too bad.  It's really fun though, try it at least!  The controls are good too, you'll get  the hang of it fast.  :)

Yea, leveling up early on isn't that bad if you know what to do. The grind does get tiresome later and I was only able to get to level 60 because I dedicated an entire weekend to play it during the double xp event.

The thing you need to know is to spend your early unlock points to get the resuscitate ability which is in the form of an upgraded medkit (I don't remember the skill tree, but you have to spend 2 unlock points in each tier to open up the next one and the resuscitate ability is in tier 2). Every enemy  you take down is 5xp, but every ally you revive is  10xp. Not only that, the area near an objective will give you double xp so if there's a lot of combat going on, you can easily make tons of XP while keeping your allies in the fight longer.

Also, if you play as Raven, ignore the reflex scope upgrade because it's too small to see well (versus SVER or Valor's) and you can use the unlock point(s) for something else. Frankly, the ironsights didn't give me any problems.

It's been months since I last touched the game so I don't know what the situation is  with team balancing currently so I don't want to discourage you from joining one team over another. As far as weapons go, I recall that SVER had stronger weapons that had a slower rate of fire, Raven had weaker weapons with a high rate of fire and Valor was the middle child.

There may be some changes though. I thought I read something about a big update in the pipes (v2.0) with a lot of stuff like balancing and such.
