"The game has had all types of cars cheap, muscle, high end, racing, f1, now carts. Thats part of its appeal i can race the car i own, my dad owned , my future car, my dream car, and my kids dream car. Its just nuts. Heck the weather trailer you'll see them show a volkswagon van race, how many of those types of races do you see on tv? " How is this not a response to this? "the antithesis of the car anyone would want to drive in Gran Turismo, and anyone interested in the car isn't going to be looking at it for its performance." Now i dont give a crap about what direction Honda has been going towards with their cars as of late. The Cr-z might not be the ideal car for racing but does that mean people dont want to race it no. You speak in absolutes when practicaly nothing is. Who's to say there isnt a Cr-z loving gt fan out there? You might not like or want the car but someone might. You seem to have a typical racing game mentalitly that only true racing cars should be in a racing game and that everyday cars should just butt out. Any car can be a race car, thats what GT does thats why its the best (my opinion). |
Telling me that GT is about racing when I said it was about racing shows a lack of reading comprehension. I clearly feel that GT is about racing so that isn't the area where we disagree.
Let me give you a list of all the cars made by Honda known to be in GT5:
Integra Type-R (DC5-gen, ’04)
Acura NSX ('91)
NSX Type-R (1st gen, ’92)
NSX Type-R (2nd gen, ’02)
NSX (ARTA SuperGT, ’06)
NSX (Takata Dome SuperGT, ’06)
NSX (Raybrig SuperGT, ’06)
S2000
S2000 (Stephen Papadakis, ’05)
Notice that all of these are cars whose main focus is performance. The Integra Type-R is the only FWD car in the list, and it's probably one of the most track-focused FWD cars aside from the Mini Cooper GP. Among these cars, the CR-Z stands out like a sore thumb. These cars are not all race cars. Hell, three of them are stock street cars. I do not believe that there should only be race cars in a game like GT5. I thoroughly enjoy flogging production cars. However, attempting to flog a car that was designed for the opposite of performance does not appeal to me or the great majority of people who enjoy this game. I'm not going to deny that there might be a few odd people who want to race with this car, but they're not even a small minority, they're microscopic. The ONLY reason this car is included is for marketing purposes for Honda. GT gains nothing from this. No one not previously interested in GT5 will suddenly want to check it out because it has a hybrid econobox. That is my point. I don't care that it's not a race car. I haven't mentioned a single race car in this thread aside from the ones copypasta'd in that list. I think it's stupid because virtually no car enthusiast would want to drive this car in a race setting. It shouldn't be in the game for the same reason the Prius isn't.
@NomadBlue: GT isn't about cars. You can't wax your car or change its oil. You can't commute in it. It's about racing. That's an important distinction. A CR-Z is not an appealing car to race. It's mind numbingly slow (like, it makes a civic look fast), it's far too heavy for its size (meaning lazy response), and it's got a battery that can't be geared or anything so the thing is going to be even slower past 60 or 70. So, even if you've got people who are interested in GT5, they're probably not going to be interested in using the CR-Z in game. To make matters worse, very few people interested in owning a CR-Z are going to be into racing. Even within its own segment, it's not exactly the car a car enthusiast would go with. So you've got people who aren't interested in racing being shown a car that is designed for the opposite of racing in a racing setting. Simply put, it's a recipe for absolutely zero interest.
