Not turning this into a debate over who has the better what (we already know the answer) but most decent jobs here offer extended medical leave, leave if somebody in the immediate family has an illness (my fiance took a year off when my daughter was having seizures several times a day back in 2002), and some sort of program to help those who are disabled. Plus, getting injured on the job is pretty much guaranteed workman's compensation. My aunt who died two years ago had a boyfriend who was notorious for getting hired and getting hurt on the job. He got several hundred thousand for severly hurting his on his last job (it took a few years, though.). She died of a medication overdose (she had Parkinson's disease) right before he got his huge payoff......sometimes, I think he murdered her but there's no way we can prove it. But anyway, on topic, there's lots of programs here to help people who are sick.
There's too many programs to help people that are lazy, too.
