Metal Gear Solid is one of my favourite games of all time, with perhaps the strongest and most intelligent storyline. As such I prefer the MGS series over SC.
That said, I can honestly say I have rarely been blown away by a game as much as I was when I first played Splinter Cell on the Xbox. The lighting was simply extraordinary and literally left me in awe.
I like both series because they add different things to the genre. I love the storytelling and characters in MGS, whereas I love the realism and perfect gameplay of the SC series.
