The PS1 had several 3+ million third party sellers in it's first year. It had several 5+ million third party sellers in it's second. It was also obvious by the start of it's second year that it was getting a lot of third party support with many of the best teams, games, and budgets. The announcement for Final Fantasy 7 was made 4 months after the system's North American launch for example. I guess we'll see though if the Wii is the PS1 when it comes to third parties instead of the PS2 (or whatever people want to compare it to). |
