Interesting analogy, I think the situation is still different in key ways but I guess we'll have to wait for a "couple of years" before we see how things shake out. The PS1 had several 3+ million third party sellers in it's first year. It had several 5+ million third party sellers in it's second. It was also obvious by the start of it's second year that it was getting a lot of third party support with many of the best teams, games, and budgets. The announcement for Final Fantasy 7 was made 4 months after the system's North American launch for example. I guess we'll see though if the Wii is the PS1 when it comes to third parties instead of the PS2 (or whatever people want to compare it to). 


 That's interesting. What titles sold more than 3 million copies in the first year of the PS1?
