I found this story about PC gaming embracing DD to be interesting:  http://www.pcworld.com/article/205979/why_digital_downloads_are_soaring_on_pcs_not_consoles.html?tk=hp_new

So does that mean it really IS the future for next gen?  Not for Sony, because they have royalties tied to disc formats that they'd be foolish to give up.  But what about MS and Nintendo?

Anyway, as for THIS gen of GAMING, Blu Ray has proved to be a superfluous luxury.  The movie thing is debatable, though.  Does anyone have a link to a professional comparison between the same movie 1080p downloaded through the Zune marketplace or Playstation store and one played on Blu Ray?

As long as SONY allows for DD of some retail titles, I don't see the issue here.  It can very very plausable to argue that the profits made from a DD outweighs the revenue earned from royalties.  Both ways, SONY can benefit.
