You make it seem like the Tea Party is a minority group, lead by elites. It's not. These are average Americans tired of big government and not liking where this country is headed. Really, the media and politicians bashing them is only giving them more power and more members. If it weren't mostly average Americans (you know the majority of voters), how would they have been able to defeat the "popular" Mike Castle, or any of the other career politicians, Dem or Rep? And I wouldn't be so sure about losing DE. Some voters may have sour grapes because of what they felt was a sure bet (Castle) losing, but come election day they'll have healed their wounds. And the Republican party has already started supporting O'Donnell. And of course all you hear are slogans, because that is all you want to hear. Just like all I hear from the left side are slogans. Hope. Change. Car needs to be in D to go forward. We're looking from the outside in. Do a little more digging and you would find substance. |
You do know how primaries work dont you? Its essentially your party electing who they want to represent them, its not a general election. This is why the tea party candidates will struggle when they need independant votes and may even scare off some republicans. The fact the tea party influenced a republican primary shows theyre republican in base, and the fact their candidates are lunatics shows theyre fringe and the fact Sarah Palin loves them shows how "average" they are.
The other bolded bit shows youve essentially bought into the masquerade. The more "tea party endorsed" candidates the general electorate see the worse for the republican party. Republicans will obviously start endorsing her because theyre struggling for some identity, republicans know they need to keep the tea party happy and they know they cant be associated with the tea party because it will scare off the independant vote, thats why its going to be tough come the GE and long term for the republican party. No one stepped up and it left the party without a coherant message and now people are screaming Rino and the base is latching onto the tea party when that wont appeal in GE's.
