CGI-Quality said: 1.Tell me how Atlus published Demon's Souls in the US/EU even though Sony owns the IP? 2.Why does Square-Enix publish CoD in Japan? Answer, because it happens. 3.Published =/= owned. Activision may have had a deal in place at one point to publish it, but that doesn't mean they own the IP. In fact, 4.SCEE published Ghostbusters in EU, but Sony doesn't own the IP. Just because Columbia Pictures are owned by Sony doesn't mean SCE has the rights to the Ghostbusters IP. Obviously, if they owned it, it would only be on PlayStation systems.
1. Because Sony licensed the game out to them.
2. Because Activision isn't a worldwide publisher so they need a Japanese publisher to partner with
3. No one said Activision owned it. You said Atari did and I asked why was Activision publishing it then
4. Yes, they do. Why else would someone get exclusivity to it in one region for a 5 months or so?
Look we are going around with circles you two are arguing with yourselves now. Lets look at some of your posts on the subject.
ethomaz said: Ghostbusters movie is Sony Picture owned IP... game no.
Here is one of Ethomaz's first posts on the subject. Saying that Sony does in fact own the IP.
CGI-Quality said: Not to mention that Atari owns the right to that IP. Sony owns the rights to the movie. In fact, makingmsuic just pointed out that it's bad that the Sony divisions don't work together.
Here is you saying that Atari owns the IP. For which you have provided no proof of, but you do say Sony has the rights to the movie
An IP refers to something on a whole. The Ghostbuster's IP refers to the games, movies, music, and any book that there would be. Sony can license out the IP to different people to make items based on it. So the Ghostbuster game IP is the Ghostbuster's movie IP.
So because Atari made a licensed game ~20(?) years ago means they still own it?. That's just plain wrong. Nintendo used to have the James Bond IP... so why is Activision making James Bond games?
Here is me saying what an IP actually is. Now with these two posts (mine and ethomaz) we have already concluded that SOny does in fact own the Ghostbusters IP
Your comeback to this was that the GHostbuster's case didn't have Sony on the cover...
ethomaz said: Columbia Pictures owned the name "Ghostbuster" and licencied it for Sony Picture (for one movie) and Atari (for one game). Ok?
Here we are saying that Columbia Pictures owns the rights and licensed it to Sony. Then we come to the conclusion that Sony does in fact own Columbia Pictures, and should there for own Ghostbusters.
CGI-Quality said: http://www.ghostbustersgame.com/us/index.html And Sony isn't mentioned anywhere there except for their PS logos and Sony Pictures. SCE doesn't own the Ghostbusters IP. Therefore, Demon's Souls would never be on another console to "help" Sony make money.
And now we are back to you providing a link that shows that Columbia Pictures owns the IP...
Now tell me this. How does Atari own the IP? If Sony doesn't own it then who does? And why did Sony make all the movies?

Sig thanks to Saber! :D
