The military really needs translators that can speak all the languages in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran.
The Don't Ask Don't Tell law has made the military fire many of those translators, due to their sexual orientation, when their rare skills were very necessary. This hurts their ability to communicate with people, and can cost lives. You do think that saving lives is more important than kicking gays out, right?
Most soldiers, when asked, say that they don't care about the sexual orientation of anybody in their unit. All they care about is if they're a good soldier and have their back.
