First off, that wasn't a joke, it was what his wife actually thought when she first saw the Move controller.
Also, the rest of your comments don't even apply because he is clearly talking about Move's reception to non gamers and casuals which you are neither.
And lastly, he stated very clearly he isn't reviewing Move in any way, just commenting on some design and pricing decisions which I can see being very valid concerns.
