but that falls into sony's and microsofts fault at not securing exclusives. Hell, sony didn't even think enough of the first game to publish it in the west. Though Sony does have a good amount of exclusives.... though their best one imo was demon soul's... or wipeout series made by liverpool... which they dissolved >_>

If you were running a company, wouldn't you pick the one solution that gives me the most exposure and most chance to make money. If multi was the answer thanwouldn't you pick that?

You talk of exposure and revenue yet ignore development costs, work required, and time. Then consider the fact that multiplat=/=guaranteed success.

Well, if it's not a success multiplat, why would it be a success on 1 platform? Wouldn't by releasing it on 1 platform essentially be playing it safe. Say, the development costs are lowered by a bit, but you have less people that you can sell it to.

There's other factors to consider such as which games appeal to each consoles userbase etc... which I'm sure from software pays people to do.

Not saying it would. Just saying that putting it on more than one doesn't always equal recipe for success. In some cases, it actually lowers it's chances. All hype for tekken6 died when it was announced multiplat. No one gave a crap about Quantum once that went multiplat. in fact, i remember a thread where basically everyone agreed on that.

As for the userbase comment. Very true. Where's the evidence that a Demon's Souls-like game would do well on 360? It had an online component let's be honest; it was the loneliest MMO ever at best and bear-bones when it came to online features. While it may be themed like a WRPG,Demon's Souls is very much JRPG and a pretty hardcore one at that. A lot of grinding and repetition to get the most of of the game. Very straight forward with the only western appeal is that you discover the details of the story for yourself if you want.
