Whoops! Looks like a loose-mouthed developer at Warner Bros. has let a certain cat out of a certain bag, with Mortal Kombat Executive Producer Shaun Himmerick stating that his team has the next generation PlayStation Portable.

"We have a PSP2 in the house and we’re looking at the engine, like what can it support," says Himmerick. "Always a big thing for us is the performance. We’re running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. We’re definitely looking at them. PSP2 looks like it’s a pretty powerful machine. We don’t have a 3DS system in house yet, but we’re looking to get one, and we’ll certainly look at what its power is."

Like all good Sony projects, this is looking like one of the worst kept secrets in town. Just like the PSPgo, inFAMOUS 2, Resistance 3 and Killzone 3. Sony is this industry's perpetual leaky faucet.

I undersand that Destructoid's staff is composed entirely of trolls, but blaming Sony for something the head of a small studio says to a small website at a (relatively) small event?

How are the blaiming Sony for what they guy said? They're blaming Sony for poor leak control.

What are Sony going to do, send in an assassin to kill the interviewer and Himmerick and invent stories for their innocent deaths?

I imagine Sony's instructions were "Here's the PSP2. Start working on this. Do not tell anyone that you have this", or something of the sort, and Himmerick...I don't know, maybe he was drunk.

Well Nintendo seems to have ways of getting developers to talk as little as possible.

So either Sony isn't doing it that well, or this is just publicity.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
