I called the number and they are sending someone next week to fix it. 

It is the DMV chip that will be replaced, and they will pay for it.

Cool that they are fixing it for free. I assume it's under warranty, or is it a recall item?

think it's a recall.  The person on the phone knew exactly what the problem was.  They will place the DMV chip but if there's other problems, then they will charge me. 

How old is your DLP to still have warranty?

If my LED light engine dies on my DLP I may as well throw it out...1000 bucks.
