Blade Runner I agree with. It's my favorite movie. I agree with 2001: A space Odyssey though it would bemy number 3.

Star Wars I love Especially V and I. IMO it is not Science Fiction. It is Fantasy in outerspace Like other's have said. It is Lord of the Rings in outer space. It doesn't base any of it's theories on science or theory's of science. And the force is really close to something in fantasy ya know. force = magic.
They don't even try to use the effects time dilation should have on the plot.
The only thing that I can think of that is science fiction in it. is midi-clorians in Episode 1. Because it explains the force. But everyone hated that. Because they're like the force is the force! no need to explain it. which equals magic and fantasy.
IIMO Avatar deserves to be there as much as Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within... meaning, doesn't deserve.
