Killstreak Rewards

Back in the day before Modern Warfare, you could tell the good players by staying away from a particular area of the map. You wander into their killzone and BAM! HEADSHOT! No harrier strikes, no chopper gunners, no UAVs, and on. If you could see the player, then that means your dead because the moment they see you they have had the crosshairs on your head for a minute, while you are busy aiming downsight at them with your wrist shaking and thinking WTF not this guy again. Most of the time, you never see them coming.

Nowadays, what do we have? Killstreaks rewards. Basically, you get 5 kills, go into a secluded spot, and call in a reward. This reward may add 1 to 5 more kills for you to open up another present from Infinity Ward developers.

What is the problem? Telling an honestly gifted, good player from just another sleazeball camper who is no better than when he first started than where he is 6 months ingame time is getting more and more blurry. Furthermore, good players who could own you without the killstreak rewards are instantly called "hackers."What was once the domain of good players has become littered with your flavor of the month squatter trash who use the most OP setups (Jedi knifing anyone?), camping tactics, and weapons to pad their K/D ratio.

In many respects, killstreak rewards have heralded the end, as in Nero playing the violin while Rome burns end, for competitive FPS play.

I cannot see the issue with getting them because of skill because well, you might have got that Harrior fairly, went round killing just survived and did well. Yet it is an unfair advantage because that guy is already winning, why let him win more? If you are concerned, MW2 does have an online game where Killstreaks are not included.

The thing you mentioned about about not having kill streaks though, about the guy in his area? Sure'y he's just camping. That's not skill.

But like said, regenerating health is stupid, and a waste of time. I like health packs.

Killstreak reward kills stacking onto another killstreak reward is not skill. It is the antithesis of skill.

You misinterpreted what I mean by "in his area." This is not camping. This is a preferred area of the map players go to where there are choke points and points of triangulation which any skilled player seeks to get killstreaks. Some may call this camping, I don't consider it because the history of warfare has shown that determining where the battle takes place is half the battle.

Skill is not running around the map like a blind monkey hoping to run into another player and kill them before you do. Skill requires planning, full knowledge of the map, and the hardest part, an amazing level of hand-to-eye coordination in order to get the jump and reverse the jump other players have on you.
