Yeah, I agree the used car analogy is dubious. ut used music CDs, used movie DVDs, used books, they all directly correlate to used games and other software and there's been a used market in those for a lot longer than video games have even existed. And those industries are all still alive and well.
Software isn't special, so it deserves no additional legal protection from used sales than any other tradeable mass produced intellectual property.
