@ Zkuq

cute, but childish and misinformed.

Your the one that's misinformed.  If piracy was theft, when you get caught, you'd be arrested for robbery.  Instead, your sued for copyright infringement.  Big difference.

still against the law.  Pirating is not making a copy, it is stealling a copy. Big difference

What? Do you, by any chance, happen to be a troll? Or are you actually refering to "real" piracy, like pirates at sea?

Let me explain it this way.  Say you buy something with your credit card, and the clerk copies your card info, then gives you back your card.  He then goes home and uses your card # to buy all kinds of shit.  Did he just pirate your identity or is this ID theft.  What ever you what to call it, it is the same.  You are taking something that does not belong to you, in this case data, and with out the permission of the owner. That is theft.

I suppose Grand Larceny is not theft.  When you get caught they don't charge you with theft, they charge you with Grand Larceny.  It is just a type of theft, just like piracy.

Your troll comment was uncalled for and pointless.  It may have been a bad attempt at humor, I don't know

No.  If you steal money from someone you are removing money from their account, not copying it.  Theft and copyright infringement are 2 seperate things, which is why there are seperate laws governing them.  You can say that piracy is theft all you want, but that doesn't make it true.

There are many seperate laws governing theft, because theft is a broad term. I never said they were legally the exact same. Besides, I don't care what government laws call it.  I can read a definition then decide for myself whether something applies to that or not.  IMO by definition, piracy is theft.  Do I care what I would get charged with if I pirated a game, no because I'm an honest hard working person who doesn't mind supporting the companies who make the games, therfore I don't have to worry about it. You can justify it as piracy all you want, to me, it is still just a thief.
