I'm thinking Mass Effect 2.

History repeats itself. Wasn't Mass Effect 1  a contender for GOTY along with Super Mario Galaxy? Yeah SMG prevailed. 

But the jump from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2 is less than the one from SMG to SMG2. Also, Mass Effect 2 got a lot of DLC since it's release which keeps it alive. The recent Mass Effect 2 DLC seems to be muy no bueno from what I heard.
