Perhaps i was wrong on saying radical, and this is totally non-helpful, but i read a book last year about a guy who went into northern pakistan and Afghanistan to build schools, and he was talking about how him being American helped his cause rather than hurt it before 9/11, because the locals remembered the Americans as the ones that helped them get rid of the Soviets, and saved the Bosnians from the Serbs

Yea, that I can see happening. What might shock many people, is that could still happen today. Many parts of Afghanistan (and Iraq), are happy we are there.
