What if you are lurking on purpose though?   As to not bring attention to yourself.  I find that to be a little harsh

then send a message to the mod every 24  hours saying "i'm an active lurker"

I'm sure the mod won't like the solution though :p

Its a better solution than just mod-killing them wouldnt you say?
