This is proof we need a lot more, and I mean a lot more female protagonists. The shaved head, Fight Club-esque male video game protagonist is getting rather old now that the OP mentioned it.
I am still waiting on the male protagonist who is Black, has red hair, has a mullet with baldness that he combs over, has a boxers nose, has Obama ears, and has a handle bar mustache. Still waiting.
