Actually, I would argue they are trying to cater to fans by getting the game in as many peoples hands as possibe.  The people upset over this are just a waste of space.

Depends, if its multiplat or if they release the extra as DLC, fans have no reasonable reason to be angry. But if the international edition with extra contents is exclusive on 360, its understandable and reasonable for fans to be angry. Just to precise, im not saying its a reason to threaten Wada physical integrity, though.

Not really, did 360 Bioshock fans throw a giant hissy fit when the much better version hit the PS3?

You simply get the better version if you wait.  I would have loved to have the extras that the PS3 version got but I'm sure the PS3 players would have also loved to play the game a year earlier.  That's just how things work.

360 Bioshock fans did throw a hissy fit when the port was announced, just go back and read the comments of the announcement articles. The Mass Effect 2 meltdown was much worse. The difference is that Final Fantasy is a larger franchise than the other two, so everything involving it get's alot more coverage from game sites. Also take into account that meltdowns usually happen on less respectable sites like IGN, N4G, Kotaku, Youtube, Twitter etc.

OT: Final Fantasy fans should get over it and Square Enix should stop being dicks with everything they do, you either follow through with something you promise or you just tell everyone outright what your plans are instead of tip toeing around everything while making more announcements of upcoming announcements.
