Well, as a general rule, iAnythink will be a poor designed, low-functioning, overpriced piece of crap.  My wife talked me into getting an iPhone, and that was easily the worst technology decision that I have made in the last 20 yeasrs.

Why? I am on my 3rd (3G, 3GS, and now  4).

If I had to give up every piece of electronics one by one, it would be the last thing to go.

Hard to see how with all the shit out there, it's the worst thing you have purchased in 20 years.

I assume you had a copy of Windows ME in there somewhere.

Dude,

Windows ME was a fracking Da Vinci compared to the iPhone.  Don't get me started on how awful the iPhone is.  I have probably cursed that thing more than all other devices' lifetime totals combined.

Yeah, okay. ME was the biggest piece of shit operating system I've ever used (and I've worked in the tech industry for nearly a decade and dabbled for almost ten before that). Every smartphone built today is framed on the ideas Apple came up with for the iPhone. Exactly WHAT problems have you had with the phone? It rarely crashes, it offers nearly every function you could want from a phone (except tethering ARGH), and it's a solidly built piece of hardware (on my third phone now and none have broken outside of my own blundering). It has its problems but it's a damn fine smartphone.

To say you're exaggerating is a vast understatement.
