Its not gonna fail though as it will make Sony money, but in the eyes of the gamers and the press it will be seen as a failure i think as, it wont be popular for more than 6 months or so. Clones just doesn't work, seriously the only thing that it has that wii doesn't is a camera... |
My definition of hardcore is simply anyone who knows their way around a controller and has been gaming for a good while. Guessing that's bigger than 10%. I actually didn't use the word hardcore at all, or even "core." Your response is exactly why I made that decision.
You can bash the move all you want by contrasting it with the Wii the way you did, but Sony is marketing it to pretty much everybody (their existing userbase as well as the unknowns and the "casuals." Microsoft, however, has done little to prove that their focus with Kinect is anywhere other than with the non-gamer and the casuals. Few if any of the Kinect games will appeal to the HD userbase. The best example I can think of is Forza Kinect, but you can't even accelerate, so why bother buying Kinect to take away control of the game? The Harry Potter Kinect game seems similar in that players don't move their character but only flick their wrist constantly to blast spells at generic black-cloaked warlocks while HP moves around on his own and the extremely generous aim-assist makes sure that each of your spells hits a target of some kind.
