A LOT. The standard weapon of each character is a sword and the amount of slashes it takes to kill an enemy depends on the difficulty, but with a maxed out character it's possible to kill a dozen zombies with a single hit on easy (which I play most of the time when trying to complete quests). Leveling up and being able to plow through waves of enemies makes the game so much fun. That and cool combination attacks. With the correct timing your combos are much stronger than what you achieve by just waggling the controller.
