best years come when price hits mass marke level...ie 199$/199€: this was true for PS2 and xbox...i don't see why this shouldn't happen in the current generation.

GO and LEARN some HISTORY http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2#Price_history NOOB. 199$ was only since May 2002. And PS2 sold over 15 mln. in 2001, though almost without competitors, but still for 299$.

please tell me the percentage of sales after this price drop out of that 40 million in US...then walk in front of a mirror and look at a noob.

 

so let's take the first 18 months of sales (before price drop) and the following 18 months...you'll find that PS2 sales actually increased by 50%: the best years came AFTER hitting mass market price.
