I'm thinking of Populous 2 here, but you knew it was over when a Volcano was dropped right in the middle of your town. One of my funniest moments ever in gaming was on Populous 2 also.
My opponent (we were in a LAN game) was up high on a cliff ready to just raid my town with almost his entire army and his Shaman. Bammm - I flatted land right on some water and there goes his perch and there goes his army.
Those that didn't die were easy to mop up. The rest is history.
