MGS4 magically got worse than Fallout 3 while Fallout magically got better than LBP. Borderlands used to not be good enough while Demon's Souls was, now Demon's Souls isn't good enough but Borderlands is. IGN fails so hard, lol. I understand that opinions change over time, but that much? I guess it has to do with New Vegas being right around the corner. |
In 1991, many reviewers put Sonic the Hedgehog 1 over Super Mario World as game of the year. It takes time for impressions of a game to settle. Some games age better than others. Sometimes the flashy things that make a particular game stand out fail to impress after a while. And sometimes, an improved sequel makes an original game a lot less impressive (like MGS Rising may make MGS4 look less unique). Lots of factors to consider. Plus, IGN fails on purpose for controversy. They just want the hits. A good debate will provide that.
