I'm glad someone in here is using their brain. It's "optional" alright. You have the option of not having access to PSN and new games or keeping Other OS. In the otherwords, it's not really optional.

please explain how it isn't optional.  are you saying anyone who doesn't have the PS3 connected online can't play certain games?  where are all the lawsuits for that then if that was the case? 

 

clearly there is a way to play games without being online since the PS3 doesn't state mandatory online connection. and if that is the case, losing other OS again doesn't prohibit the playing of games.
