You can compare them, but their strengths lie in different areas, thus the "better" game usually boils down to which facet you prefer.
Bayonetta is all abow the complexity and technique found in its combat. God of War focuses more on the visual spectacle of fighting, focusing on powerful yet slow moves, and incorporating numerous scripted sequences in lieu of traditional gameplay. Almost half the game is spent getting tossed around by a titan or smashing a god's eyeballs in, while in Bayonetta, you spend the majority of your time using your wits and knowledge of the combat system to take down the game's pernicious AI opponents.
