It is because PS2 initially launched in Japan a while before the other places.. so what we are seeing on that graph for the first year is mostly just Japans sales, so when you include USA and Others, you are bringing the USA and Other launch dates back to when it actually only launched in Japan, so the totals don't match up obviously, since they are all going by different launch dates
