I've played and updated Pain recently and it seems to work fine for me. However i check on Pain updates once awhile like every few months for updates and keep it up to date.
However, that error issue occurs to me recently when i tried to update Socom which i havent updated it since i played it when launch. It'll download like 3/6 and then error etc..
So my conclusion from your error and mine is when a game hasnt been updated in forever and requires massive update then an error is the result? Which doesnt seem so good for anybody thats really late in buying a game that'll have massive updates.
