Of course Valve could make money if Windows didn't exist. They would simply make their games for whatever OS was most famous.

No, I said could they make money NOT depending on MS. I didn't create a scenario where Windows doesn't exist.

MS brought the audience, Valve depends on it.

That's history. The audience is already here, and it's not going away no matter what happens to Microsoft.

We can sit and debate the history of MS's contribution to the PC audience all day, and I agree it is a valuable contribution. But that doesn't really matter nowadays.

Bottom line, Valve is not dependent on Microsoft.
