I heard a few experience businessmen give to others advise (nothing directly about gaming yet still applies) it better to focus your product toward one group instead separating yourself out too thin. They claim this is one mistake many newcomers starting their own business makes. It's probably smarter to focus and design games specially for Wii or HD consoles/PC than trying to do both. This is why sometimes we read a version of a game is dropped.
One of the things that makes games like Halo, GT5, SMG so good is the fact the developers focus only on one console and max that console out.
