they aren't the same beast. the term is used interchangeably but its like calling a cuban mexican 

I know they are different, what I meant was that I did not know when people said buffalo/bison in the US they are talking about the same beast.

Living in socal I would believe it. Basically from what I have hard in So Cal and Arizona any one from below the US is mexican, and in Florida they are all Cubans! Lol
