In places, probably.  Best lighting for sure.  As with all GoW games though, although the scale is impressive often the setting seems empty.  Fairly barren rooms with simply a puzzle or enemies.  I never quite feel the setting is 'alive'.  In 1080p in its most impressive areas it is amazing though.

Like many I felt Uncharted 2 overall maintained a better balance of detail and it just felt a tad more 'inhabited' which I prefer in SP orientated games.  The plot of GoW3 (well, almost every GoW titles) does put you in more of a position where there won't be anyone else around really.

I still feel for overall balance of lighting, detail and 'being there' nothing has topped the zero combat, take your time and look around village sequence in Uncharted 2.  The character models are much better in Uncharted 2, right across the board.  Kratos is very detailed, but his animation still lag behind the stuff in Uncharted 2.  Some of the monsters in GoW3 where brilliant though, amazing animations and detail.  But the human based characters (i.e. most of the gods) looked very weak.  I was quite shocked at times how bland they looked.

Both are pretty damn amazing, though, and - together with GT5:P and Killzone 2 - represent the peak of PS3 graphically speaking.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
