Yes it is, its coming out I think in 2 weeks for Sprint.

Already out, its called the 'Captivate' and Amazon is having a great sale on one. For new account holders its free, but for people upgrading its $99.

However, he wants to buy without a contract so that cuts this brand new phone out.

No it isnt. Its the Epic 4G. I edited the last post.

I just would suggest getting it off Amazon since the phone on Amazon costs $199 rather then the Sprint store's own $249.

Again, my 2 year agreement doesn't expire for 8 months, and that's $200 only with a new 2 year contract. Without it it's $400, and I obviously can't even get close to affording that. Plus, going to 4G adds $10 a month to the sprint service plan and I don't want to pay for something that won't be available in my area for a year and I most likely won't use much anyway.
