It can be any type of Boss and when I mean hardest, I mean it was so hard that it either made you rage quit or make you wanna throw your controller at your TV or anything along these lines. One of my toughest boss fights was in Kingdom Hearts trying to defeat Sephiroth. I tried many differen stradegies but still wasn't able to able to either dodgeroll or glide away from him when required. He annoyed the shit outta me in KH and still up to this day, I have been unable to beat him. But I got my revenge in KH II and kicked his ass :D.

but a real answer, the speed ball boss of metroid 2. never finished the game because of that boss.
